“You, O God, sent the reviving rain upon your weary inheritance, showers of blessing to refresh it. So there your people settled. And in your kindness, you provided the poor with abundance. God Almighty declares the word of the gospel with power, and the warring women of Zion deliver its message: ‘The conquering legions have themselves been conquered. Look at them flee!’ Now Zion’s women are left to gather the spoils.” Psalm 68:9-12 TPT

I love this scripture! It paints such a beautiful picture of the redeeming love of Christ! When the Lord calls us, we are poor and broken and wearied from a life of slavery. The dust of “Egypt” has settled upon our eyes and desert living has left our bones dry. In His infinite kindness, the Lord sends His reviving rains to wash away the remnants of Egypt, strengthen us in His abiding love, and settle us into His land of abundance. Then through the power of His word we are sent forth to proclaim His message of freedom and reap the spoils of His victory!!! WOW!!!

I cannot believe that less than 8 years ago I was wandering without hope in a dry and weary land for over 25 years!!! It looked pretty dismal for me. But in a moment of time everything changed. Through an act of mercy, I was awakened to love and declared free. And the really beautiful thing is that Jesus didn’t just leave me there to fend for myself; He sent His rain to revive, refresh, and empower me. He drew me to Himself through His Word and I saw Him. And in seeing Him I saw myself and the reason I was created. It was all for love. His love.

For over 7 years now I have had the pleasure of being loved by Jesus and sharing His love with other women just like myself at Mary’s Song. Be chosen to be participate in the wonder of their journey in discovering His love has been very humbling and overwhelmingly beautiful. I don’t think I will ever understand why He chose me, but I am so thankful He did! As it says in 1 John 3, “What manner of love is this that we should be called children of God?” There’s no logical explanation for any of it. It’s grace. It’s redemption. It’s Christ. For His Glory! He is the Victor. We are His spoils!
