My husband is so encouraging to all women to take your place in ministry! All of us have such precious gifting for the body of Christ. We are at a crossroad in American to not hold back nor hide away somewhere. Ps 68:11 says, “The Lord gives the command; The women who proclaim the good tidings are a GREAT HOST!” (NASB)

WOMEN’S LIBERATION – by thebaileydrink

Luke 8:1-3 – Soon afterward, Jesus began a ministry tour throughout the country, visiting cities and villages to announce the wonderful news of God’s kingdom realm. His twelve disciples traveled with him and also a number of women who had been healed of many illnesses under his ministry and set free from demonic power. Jesus had cast out seven demons from one woman. Her name was Mary Magdalene, for she was from the village of Magdala. Among the women were Susanna and Joanna, the wife of Chusa, who managed King Herod’s household. Many other women who supported Jesus’ ministry from their own personal finances also traveled with him.

The Women’s Liberation Movement started in the 1960’s. Think about that terminology, women’s liberation. Liberation from what? Actually it is describing a social bondage that goes back through time to the beginning of civilization and through every culture, race, and religion. Women have been second class citizens until the time of Christ. That was the beauty of the ministry of Christ; He liberated women as well as the rest of us. Every race, every age group, and every gender were liberated by Christ. Not only were women freed socially, they were liberated spiritually. The bondages of sin as well as societal control were broken by the power of the gospel. Here are some notes from the Passion Bible that describes the liberation of all women.

“To travel with a rabbi was considered a high honor. Yet it was not permitted in the culture and time of Jesus’ ministry for a woman to be mentored by a rabbi. Jesus elevated women into a place of honor and respect, in spite of the cultural limitations. It was these wealthy women who provided for Jesus’ care. Luke is the one Gospel writer who brings out the many times Jesus honored women. These women would later be present at the crucifixion and at the resurrection. Mary Magdalene was the first human being to see the risen Christ.”

Women became business leaders, deaconesses, and even preachers under the ministry of Christ. Actually the first resurrection message was preached by Mary Magdalene to the apostles. So much for women not being allowed to preach!!! Today women still experience all sorts of discrimination and unequal treatment. They experience sexual harassment, unfair wages, and restrictions in the church. I think its time for a true liberation movement, the kind that breaks social bondages as well as spiritual bondages. If the Son has set you free you are free indeed.
