Meet The Two Fish Family

“One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, Here is a boy with five barley loaves and two small fish. But what difference will these make among so many?” John 6:8,9John Wesley said; ”Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, to all the persons you can, in all the places you can, as long as ever you can.”As a kid growing up, real life can be just rough. Unless you are one of those kids that get it right the moment you were born. I would gather that most of us grow up in a family like the family of “Two Fish ”. You see the Two fish family go through life living average, Two fish families usually go unnoticed, not making an impact wherever they go. Guess you would say they could be “average Joe”. From teachers, to the neighbors to their co-workers the Two fish family would be hard to pick out in a crowd. Everyday runs into another and their dreams fade out with each closing day.The family of Two fish heard about a “teacher” that would be sharing near their city so mother Two fish did what she always would do when they went for a picnic and be out all day, mother Two fish packed a lunch. She brought two fish and five barley loaves, after all it was their standard picnic meal. But out of all the everyday days in the family of Two fish-it was this day they heard the sermon on the mount that changed everything about their life. After the message the strange man that had plenty to say asked Phillip to feed the multitude. Philip and Andrew did the math and summed it all up. What Jesus was asking from them was just impossible. Lange commentary said, “In the reckoning of men there is always a deficit; in the reckoning of Christ there is always a surplus.”But we should never leave Jesus out of our calculations. Did they wake up and suddenly think the sky look bluer, the grass greener? Whatever it was, the family of Two fish became alive. The Two fish little boy stepped forward tugging on Andrew’s sleeve. The strange man on the mount that had so much to say warmed the two fish little boy’s heart. He knew for the first time in his life that what he had was enough. Don’t ever imagine that we are too poor, or too stupid, or too ignorant, or too obscure to do any real good in the world.The Two fish little boy gave his two fish from his family of Two fish and they were never the same. Christ took what they had and brought the multiplication needed. He fills with himself every hungry soul who eats. WHATEVER WE HAVE IS THE GIFT OF GOD!“Put what you can into Christ’s hands constantly and the transforming and magnifying will multiply it. You have some thoughts, feelings, powers, capacities, actions, which you can now in a solemn way give to Jesus. Consecrate them. Do not say, “Oh, I have not got anything worth the giving; it is of no use at all.” Give Him the little, and he will make it much.”(J. Vaughan, M. A.)
