“Whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty anymore. But the water that I will give him shall become a fountain of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.” John 4:14
I love this scripture! Christ is an ever-flowing, inexhaustible fountain and they that drink of Him shall never thirst! He alone is able to ravah, or satisfy, drench, made drunk, fill, satiate, and soak our weary souls! As we drink in His Holy Spirit again and again and again, we fall more and more in love with Jesus, His Word, and His church! We become worshippers! We are healed physically, mentally, and emotionally! And as we are joyfully satisfied in Him, we cannot help but overflow onto those around us!
I love how A.B Simpson describes this process, “Drinking is an exercise of our spiritual senses which constantly renews and quickens our spiritual life, refreshing us and filling us, so that we are glad to pour out our full vessel in service for others. This is the outflow of the spiritual life. This is the evidence that we are filled, because we cannot hold it longer, and now occupy ourselves in imparting the blessing to others.”
This is the fullness of life that we have been offered in Christ! This is our purpose and portion! He is ever beckoning us to come to Him and drink and overflow on the hurting world around us!! Thank You Jesus! “…You give me all I can drink of you until my cup overflows!” (Ps 23:5)
Today, let us boldly declare with John, “Come!” Whoever hears, “Come!” Is anyone thirsty? Come! All who will, come and drink, Drink freely of the Water of Life!” (Rev. 22:17)
