AT THE POTTER’S WHEEL

MERRY MONDAY BY PARRIS
“So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel.” Jer. 18
Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working” John 5:17

Sometimes it does us good to just close our eyes and vision Christ. Today I see him busying Himself at the potter’s wheel. He is working very tediously on the clay. In fact, Christ told the Pharisees that His Father and Him are always at work. They didn’t like it when He said this of course. In a world of chaos and uncertainty, for me to see Christ at the work of redemption gives me hope in tomorrow.

With Christ at the potter’s wheel, He will guide my life and straighten out the crooked places. His work of redemption is a work of love from the start! Without Him at work, I have no hope in this world.

Expositor Bible says, “Where the heart is right the conduct will be right. Love will soften the tones, will instinctively teach what we ought to be and do; will take the bitterness out of opposition and diversity, will make even rebuke, when needful, only a form of expressing itself. If the heart be right all else will be right; and if their be a deficiency of love nothing will be right. Love one another, and you will shape yourselves into the right forms. He knew that they needed no exhortations such as ecclesiastics would have put in the foreground. It was not worth while to talk to them about organizations and officers. These would come to them at the right time and in the right way. The ‘one thing needful’ was that they should be knit together as true participators of His life. Love was sufficient as their law and as their guide.”

Did you wake up “on the wrong side of the bed this morning”? Don’t worry, the potter will shape you in the right form. As we learn to sit ourselves on the potter’s wheel we shall be content enough!
