HE CROWNS THE YEAR WITH HIS GOODNESS

MERRY MONDAY BY PARRIS

Ps.65:11- He crowns the year with His goodness.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” Melody Beetle

“Thou crownest. The herbs, fruits, and flowers, produced by the earth, are here finely represented as a beautiful variegated crown, set upon her head, by the hands of the great Creator.” Samuel Burder.

You encircle us with your diadem. The glorious autumn comes golden to us to remind us of another year of his bounty, another year harvest met us with fresh supplies. While we sleep, he is at work shooting the roots downward and the fruit upward. His copious measure comes to us each morning in the dew, in the smell of coffee filling the house, in the sun that shines through your window. Let’s not take for granted the overflow of God because it comes in the most common of ways! Is your cupboard full? Do you not have a wonderful home filled with precious things? As the summer gives way to fall, does not your house adjust to the changing temperatures? Millions are benefited by his daily provision whether we thank him or not.

Spurgeon says; “But the moment of the coronation, when earth feels most the sway of the year, is in the fulness of autumn. Then when the fields are covered with a cloth of gold, and fruits are glowing with the rich hues of ripeness, and the leaves are burnished with inimitable perfection of tint and shade, then with a coronal of divine goodness, amidst the glad shouts of toiling swains, and the songs of rejoicing maidens, the year is crowned. Great is the joy of harvest. Happy are the reapers who fill their arms with the liberality of heaven. Every verdant meadow and every leaping brook hears the joyful proclamation and feels a new life within. The little hills rejoice on every side; they shout for joy; they also sing.”

God’s chariot races through the sky encircling the earth with his visitations leaving abundance and beauty everywhere behind. Father Time stays constant watering the earth with his love. There is a melody in the autumn harvest that says to us, “I will return this time of year again and again”. All of his salvation wonders are on display in the world around us. Let us thank God in the good years and the lean. The seasons of Pentecost come during harvest time. He opens up the distillery from the fruit of the vine for us to drink deeply from. Oh the wine from his heavenly cellar that has been kept at the appointed seasons!
