“Creating Sacred Spaces”

MERRY MONDAY BY Parris

Matt.6:6 – But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

March 2020 speaks out to me of being put on a forced sabbatical. It’s amazing how much we push ourselves week on and week out with little or no bible reading or mediating. I hope we can reflect on our lives, our country and our planet earth and in that pause you make sure we have created scared spaces. Sacred spaces push us out of the chaos of daily life and into deeper connection with God and each other. Learning to see images of the divine in our daily life is a key into the supernatural.

“I am not ashamed to own that I believe that the whole universe, heaven and earth, air and seas, the divine constitution and history of the holy Scriptures, be full of images of divine things.” – Jonathan Edwards

Brother Lawerence in his books learned to live in his presence. Even while facing a sink full of dishes. He says; “He has bestowed on you, in the midst of your troubles to take solace in Him as often as you can. Lift up your heart to Him during your meals and in company; the least little remembrance will always be the most pleasing to Him. One need not cry out very loudly; He is nearer to us than we think.”

I’m sure you have heard of a Pinterest board. But in this case we purposely create sacred spaces. Meaning shutting the door and inviting him where you are. Brother Lawrence goes on to say;

“For my part I keep myself retired with Him in the depth of centre of my soul as much as I can; and while I am so with Him I fear nothing; but the least turning from Him is insupportable.”

Jesus said in that sacred space our Father will come to us and reward us openly. Reward us deeply and satisfy our souls. When we seek the treasure this sacred space becomes boundless and the more we search the greater riches we will find. All around us will always be the virus of the world the voice of this earthly kingdom. But when we shut the door the space created becomes a God space. I feel his presence even now sitting in the church library surrounded by voices of unseen authors shouting to me to fill up the spaces in my life with him.

“It is to have a blessed home in the Lord, where I can go in and shut the door, and kneel to my Father in secret, and am at peace as in a deep sea of calmness, when all around and above is trouble.” Andrew Murray

The secret place is your portal to the Throne, the place where you taste heaven itself.
