Finding Joy in the dumper.
Or
How to bless God even when your on the dunghill!
Merry Saturday by Parris Bailey
Song of Songs 2:10-12 “My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land”.
This scripture is full of life. We can never stay in winter, yes it comes but we can never camp out there. He beckons us to come away, to rise up and run our race. Some of us can’t seem to let go of our winter season, our hurts, pains, setbacks, offenses. In fact we nurse them all through the years. But the bridegroom speaks to us, “Enough of that, it’s time to hear the voice of the turtle dove, springtime has come.”
“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.” Hab.3:17 This guy had the right attitude. You cannot live in dunghill land. (The dumper folks) Learning how to be in “whatever state I am to be content” is true freedom indeed.
Abraham saw his day and was glad, Joseph spent years in that jail cell falsely accused, what if he never got over it? Or David when Micael his wife married another man and I could go through the whole Bible and find injustices done to all of them.
Gill said, “Rise up; shake off sloth and security, and disentangle thyself more fully from all the snares of this world, and of thy own lusts, that thou mayst be more ready to come to me, and more fit for my embraces. Come away unto me, and with me; follow me fully, serve me more perfectly, labour for a nearer union and more satisfying communion with me.”
Ps.126:1-6 “When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”
This too shall pass, the winter times of life, keep singing and soon enough your tears will be turned into joy and you will doubtless come again rejoicing. He is just that great of a God!
