THE EMBRACER
Happy Tuesday by Parris Bailey “His left hand is under my head, and his right hand does embrace me” SOS 2:6
I have found a new place to walk, even in New Orleans you can feel like you are all alone with God. I feel I’m one of the most fortunate women on this earth. It’s funny I think I judge my life around my walks. I can close my eyes and any time remember being in Paris, running in Norway or flying over the Serengeti, standing in Sydney Harbor, riding the metro in England, and each time feeling this same presence resounding in me. It’s His precious gift to me, being able to create a spiritual habitation wherever I am. It’s Sunday night here at Victory, the band is playing “it flows like oil”, people are getting touched. I ask myself how many times have I sat here on this front row and He still amazes me. I am never full, never tire, always yearning for more of His beauty–more of Him. We can call it the embrace of God.
But back to walking, maybe I’m unplugging a little more, my interior is growing quiet. I find myself surrounded by huge majestic oaks that remind me of this scripture, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Duet. 33:27 We are embraced with the all powerful hand from whence no one can pluck us. (John 5: 28-30) Prov.3:16 says, “Length of days in her right hand and in his left hand is riches and honor.” Fenton said, “His left arm pillows my head, his right arm in round me, holds me tight. His right hand be clasped within mine!” His grace daily sustains us and supports us up when we fall. How have your walks been? Luther call the Lord the embracer, have you let him embrace you this morning? At some point in our life, we have to come to the point that He is enough. That he has done enough, is enough and will be enough for all our tomorrows. When we let ourselves become “still”, He comes rushing in like a bridegroom rushing out of the chamber.
“That rapture of the soul when it is filled with the sense of the divine love-these are the embraces of God and the fulfillment of the verse, “He fell on his neck and kissed him”. (People’s commentary)
I pray you would allow yourself to let go totally into His arms. His arm is always stretched out still for all of our “issues”. I am not sure what your facing, but turn off, unplug, get quiet, sit still and let Christ come in. If you make this a daily practice, you just might be a human being again! In fact you might even find yourself smiling or humming under neath your breath. Welcome to God’s embrace!
