He who dwells in the secret place of the most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He Is my refuge and my fortress: My God; And will I trust. Ps. 91:1-2
Dwelling in the Secret Place of the most High is where I find rest for my soul. This is where intimacy happens. Where I experience the peace of God that surpasses my own understanding. In the Secret Place I feel safe and secure. It’s a place I go when I forget the words He’s spoken over my life. It’s where I go when the clamor of the world begins to take over, and I forget that his plans are good, and He has a future for my life.
Dwelling in the Secret Place gives me strength for the journey. It reminds me of the dreams and visions God has given me along the way. He refreshes and rejuvenates me when I’m walking through the wilderness with no water insight.
Dwelling in the Secret Place protects and shields me from the attacks of the enemy. When my nights are long and dark, I can go to the secret place and God waves his huge hand, and the darts start falling to the ground. Nothing can stand against him. My refuge is found in Him.
God is always there, waiting for me in the secret place. He never sleeps nor slumbers. He never grows weary or tired. He’s patiently waiting to take me into his chambers again, and again, and again.
I sat down under his shadow, with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste! SOS 2:1
Spurgeon said it like this: Those who are the Lord’s constant guest shall find that He will never suffer any to be injured within His gates. He has eaten the covenant salt with them and has pledged for their protection. The omnipotent Lord will shield all those who dwell with Him, they shall remain under His care, as under the protection of their host.
